    Duo.Flex Microphone

    • Lots of prototyping and design went into developing this versatile microphone.
    • The sound quality and performance of this mic will help take your playing to the next level!
    • Designed to capture the acoustic sound of HAPI Drums, Didgeridoos, and other instruments for live stage performance and studio recording.

The Duo.Flex Mic is feedback resistant for stage performance. It also has two condenser mics for gathering sound from different areas of the instrument. We have two ears for a very good reason. It lets us balance the sound we hear to better interpret our world. It’s the same reason why just one mic has a hard time accurately capturing what we hear with an acoustic instrument. The Duo.Flex Mic with its two mic system solves this problem.

The Duo.Flex Mic also comes with removable Velcro straps for attaching it to all sorts of instruments you may wish to record. An adjustable audio level slider on the mic is used for fine tuning of the input signal strength. This allows for optimal sound levels for different drums played with hands or with mallets. It also allows use with a variety of other instruments which may require different volume adjustments.

In testing the Duo.Flex Mic with other instruments we have found unparalleled sound capture from the Didgeridoo to HAPI Drums, to Native Flutes. The two mic system allows recording three dimensions of sound. The first two dimensions are created by each individual mic which are mechanically out of phase from each other. The third dimension is created by how the two mic design electronically processes these two signals. The final output is balanced between the mics and fully captures the sound of the instrument. Simply plug in a 1/4" mono cable to the end of the microphone to use.

Customer video demo with the duo.flex mic, thanks Dylan!

    Mic specs:
    • Output impedance - 3.5K ohm, This is midway between a standard mic level signal (500 ohm), and a standard pickup level signal (8K ohm)
    • Signal type - mono, unbalance
    • Frequency response - 80 - 15K Hz
    • Power - one AA battery
    • Battery life - one year
    • Output jack acts as switch to turn battery "on"
    • The slide pot is for volume control only.
    • Output for both mics are pre-set for optimum feedback control.
    • The 3.5K unbalanced output was chosen because this is the most versatile signal type possible. It can be used effectively with most amplifiers or PA systems using standard guitar mono cables.
    • An optional 1/4" - XLR adapter is available for applications where the amplification equipment being used prefers to have the Duo Mic connect to an XLR input

Been using this mic for 5 years, no joke. Can't believe it's still around! I've tried recording with some fancy mics and this one has worked better, to my surprise and the surprise of the recording tech. I play it on the street and in the park too, seriously love it. I will say if you can get it a couple inches away from the didg it sounds better. If you look up a setup like Dr. Didg has where he keeps his mic in a box with a hole for the didg, that works REALLY well. Hook it up to a roland micro cube BASS rx and you can go anywhere! If you play didg tho, make sure you get a bass amp for it!

Wow. This MIC is truly amazing.

When I first received my Hapi UFO I was blown away by the beautiful instrument. I played it as often as possible and I still do.. I am still obsessed and in love with the tone and the vast array of sounds I can produce from this unique drum. I immediately wanted to record my Hapi UFO. I tried several different microphones.. The standards like Shure sm57s and 58s and others. Ribbon mics, condenser mics, room mics and I tried mixing the techniques, one session I used a kick drum mic under the sound hole, two sm57s to each side, two overheads pg51s and a room mic and mixed my hour long session. I was very happy with the recording and planned to do a repeat session. Then my order arrived from the guys at Hapi Drum. I ordered the DuoFlex mic mainly for live performances and street performing. I have been busy lately and I only just got the chance to try this MIC out yesterday, and just like when I first received my HapiUFO... I was blown away. Wow. This MIC is truly amazing. There is so much clarity, the sound is pure and compliments the natural sound of th Hapi drum just perfectly. The soundman I was using to help record my performance was stunned! We tried a few positioning's and settled on the mics being a little off centre inside the drum with the volume slider about 3 quarters up. Perfect. I have had to add two small rubber washers to be placed either side of the Hapi drum when I screw the mic in place. Having been really happy and impressed with this mic I strapped it on to my djembe drum and positioned the mics about two inches above the skin and recorded a performance. As I listened back to the recording my soundman and I were speechless for a while but as we picked our jaws up from the floor we were grinning like kids. The sound is just so real. I can make out the sound of my skin on the drum skin. Not just the tone of the slap. I love the DuoFlex mic and I can't wait to experiment recording more Hapi UFO and djembe and any other instrument I can think of. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I recently got my duo flex mic from this store and it has been a game changer, not only is it the BEST in acoustic amplification it also allows me to play electrically distorted didgeridoo infinitely expanding the options available to me. This mic has made a unique and cool instrument into the equivalent of a portable MIDI station. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to become extraordinary.

Ive been wanting something to amplify my Didge. Tried a standard SM58 but it didnt cut it. Did a Google search for "Didgeridoo Mic" and this was the direct link. Read the specs and really liked the dual mic on a flexible stem. Seemed like a good deal @ $99 so I pulled the plug. Totally happy I did. This mic is AWESOME! I prefer low tone Didges in C,B and A, and running this through my old Bass gear makes my Didges just BOOM, but also picks up the great Mids and Highs. Now to explore the possibilities.

    Awesome microphone

The package arrived right on time. I immediately put it on my didge and plugged it into a small amplifier. The sound was awesome!! To keep the mic dry-I cut a finger off a vinyl glove, put a little rubberband around the base of it. It stays dry and I could not be happier. The quality of this product is excellent!
